The Personal Experience

Personal Web Pages
Almost all of these web sites were found using various web search
engines. If you do not wish to have your page listed here (or if you want
your page added), just let me know.
- Look
Inside of OCD - is an outstanding collection of people's personal
stories about their OCD. These stories, like the ones you'll find
below, play an important role for individuals new to the OCD world -
OCD sufferers learn that they are not alone when, as the maintainer
says, they "read a description that resonates with them".
- Atsilusgi's OCD Page -
has her personal story and links to English- and German-language
OCD web pages.
- C.W.O. a.k.a.
Kaycee - some beautiful poetry and even a little OCD art.
- Cherry's OCD
Website - "Working Together to Turn OCD Caterpillars into
Butterflies!"
- Don't
Blame Yourself for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
- Doubt
and Other Disorders - the impressive home of "Doubtful", who
suffers from OCD and addiction.
- The
Doubting Disease - a brief description of the page owner's OCD
and a few links.
- Eating
Disorders & Obsessive Compulsive Disorders - Wendy S
McWhorter-Finney explores the connection between these disorders.
- Greg Small - genealogy and
model railroading - he's got all the bases covered! His wife,
Marianne,
suffers from OCD, has had numerous speaking engagements on the subject,
and leads the
Newmarket OCD Support
Group.
- Lark of the
Sky - suffers from OCD and panic disorder. A peaceful site.
- Lisa's Funky
AD/HD Page - mostly ADHD, but mentions OCD; the guest book was
interesting.
- Paul's
Living
with OCD (Wayback Machine) - now defunct.
- Paul Esmond's
Long Nasty
Trip - "Written by People With OCD for the Understanding of
the Strange and Puzzling Disorder." An attempt at compiling a book of
people's stories about their OCD. It is an admirable idea, although
there is no indication of how much progress, if any, has been made on
the book. (I originally bookmarked the page in 2004.)
- Mary's
World - briefly describes her own OCD and includes a lengthy quote
from a paper by Dr. Jim
Chandler that gives you a good idea of the broad range of
obsessions and compulsions experienced by people with OCD.
- My
Obsessively Clean Den - Sani's web site includes her personal story, a
discussion
group, and a
"poetry
wall". (Sani's original, very colorful
web
site.)
- Obsessive-Compulsive
Disorder - Carolyn's OCD page includes information about OCD in
children, a nice list of links, and an excellent poem by Dori.
- OCD
Handbook (Wayback Machine) - a very professional-looking resource,
out-of-date and now defunct, in four chapters: "The Basics" (general
information about OCD), "The Other 40%" (for the 40% not helped by
medication), "Side Effects of Medication", and "Broke & Uninsured"
(getting help on a budget).
- OCD Haven - "Do you find
your brain thinking about a million things all at once all the time?"
- OCD Hope - "May what has helped
me encourage you!"
- OCD Insight - "Overcome by
Christ the Divine: The Christian approach to OCD, other anxiety
disorders & depression".
- OCD
Panic Attack Support - a useful site devoted to these two anxiety
disorders.
- OCD-Plus - "is intended to
encourage sufferers to feel less alone by sharing experiences and
creative accomplishments."
- OCD & Poetry - Kimberly's
story of OCD, depression, and attempted suicide, told in prose and
poetry, from a Christian perspective. Very moving.
- Rachel's Place
- Spread the Word -
is an on-line organization dedicated to spreading the word about anxiety
disorders, OCD, and depression.
- Surviving My
Thoughts - is an excellent personal account of struggling with
OCD and depression and of largely successful attempts to treat the
two disorders with therapy and medications.
- Wiping The Crazy
Off My Face - "Looking at my life through OCD colored glasses."
Sher, humor, and great stories!
France
